BackpackerU Resources is a learning resource library from Summit Global Education. This page describes this application at coursechunks.com, including accounts, shared learning spaces, and optional analytics.

In brief: We use information to run your account, save and share the material you choose, deliver emails, and maintain the service. Optional Google Analytics and invitation-journey measurement require your permission. You can browse and use invitations without accepting analytics.

Information used to provide the service

• Accounts: your email address, profile information you provide, sign-in records, and authentication information. Google sign-in is available if you choose it.
• Your learning material: resources, notes, uploads, collections, comments, invitations, and sharing choices. Who can see this material depends on its visibility and the people you share it with.
• Service activity: request and error information, security records, and account-linked feature activity help us operate, troubleshoot, and improve the application. These server records are separate from optional browser analytics.
• Messages: account, invitation, notification, and support emails use your address and relevant service information. Notification emails provide their available preference or unsubscribe controls.
• Newsletter: if you subscribe using the footer form, your email address is sent directly to Mailchimp to manage your subscription and deliver our monthly updates. Newsletter signup is separate from your analytics choice.

Cookies and optional measurement

Essential cookies support sign-in, form security, and returning to the right page after authentication. We also remember language preferences. Rejecting analytics does not disable these functions.

Your analytics choice is stored in a first-party cookie for up to 180 days. It applies to this browser and this site, not all your devices or other Summit sites. Clearing site data or blocking cookies can remove or prevent a saved choice. The old banner's saved acceptance is not reused.

Google Analytics: if you accept, Google receives usage and technical information for public information and browse pages, such as page visits, browser/device information, and approximate location. We do not initialize it on signed-in, resource-detail, authentication, or invitation pages. We supply fixed page titles and omit query strings and referring URLs. This does not mean analytics data is anonymous.

Invitation journeys: if you accept, a first-party visitor identifier lasting up to 90 days helps us measure invitation previews, signup, joining a shared space, and the first reply. Our records can link these events to account, invitation, resource, and shared-space identifiers. The identifier is not required to accept an invitation.

You can change your choice here at any time using the footer's Privacy & Cookies link. Rejection stops optional measurement going forward and removes the invitation identifier and accessible Google Analytics cookies. It does not automatically erase historical records held by us or Google. Contact us about access, correction, or deletion requests.

Providers and embedded content

Heroku hosts the application; AWS S3 stores uploaded files; Resend delivers account and notification emails; Mailchimp handles newsletter subscriptions and monthly updates; and Sentry receives error-monitoring information. Selected content-analysis features use OpenAI. Content lookup and image features use services including Google/YouTube, Spotify, Google Books, Open Library, TMDB, and Unsplash, depending on what you use.

Pages can display YouTube, Vimeo, Spotify, or SlideShare players, external images, Google Fonts, and icons delivered through Cloudflare's CDN. The Google File picker connects to Google when its form loads. These connections send technical information such as your IP address to the provider; embedded services may also use their own storage and privacy controls. Our analytics choice does not control those providers' embedded players. Their privacy practices apply to their services.

Service providers process information to deliver their features, and information may be processed outside your country. We do not describe all provider processing as anonymous or imply that rejecting analytics prevents every external connection.

Keeping information and contacting us

Cookie lifetimes above are not deletion deadlines for account data, saved content, backups, logs, or analytics records. Retention varies by data type and provider; this page does not promise an automatic deletion period for those records. Contact us for information about a particular record or a request to access, correct, or delete your information.
